Royal Enfield Demo Tour - Gearhead Junction, Pembroke, VA
July 6, 2023   |   Event
I love when the Royal Enfield demo truck comes around and I do love Gearhead Junction which is the Royal Enfield dealer in Pembroke, VA and the host for this leg of the US Demo Tour. Gearhead Junction is located in Giles County, Virginia's Mountain Playground, along the New River and has some of the most amazing riding roads and non-roads around. As mentioned, I love this leg of the demo tour specifically for the route through the curvy miles of mountain roads along the New River and the multiple bridges that cross over it. It really is a wonderful ride and it can be very peaceful and quite engaging allowing the full experience on a new Royal Enfield of your choice. The demo truck will allow you to sample any motorcycle in the current lineup in a multitude of colors. The event is well organized with extremely knowledgeable enthusiasts eager to help you have as much fun allowed by law, plenty of free stickers and some other Royal Enfield branded items. Who doesn't love free swag? I highly suggest you find your nearest dealer on the demo tour and try out all the models in the Royal Enfield lineup. I'll drop a link below to the current schedule for this year.
I've tried every model in the lineup and finally got to ride the Scram 411 and the new Hunter 350 this year. I also took a ride on a Rocker Red GT 650 to enjoy the winding roads along the route. I loved the Himalayan and the Scram 411 was up there as well. The smaller front wheel on the Scram is a nice feature for the road allowing a bit faster turn in with some easier maneuverability and the lower seat height is quite nice. The Hunter 350 is clearly the star of the show this year as it's Royal Enfield's newest model and dare I say the best 350 in lineup or at least the best 350 for tearing up some lower speed limit city streets. It's plenty capable at higher speeds as well, but it really shines down low with an aggressive rumble and it's light and nimble chassis. It's fun, it's comfortable, easy to ride and easy to control in tight spaces. The Hunter 350 was probably my favorite ride of the day.
I also got to meet up with another one of my favorite Royal Enfield creators, Andy Lee, Motos, Cades and Coffee. I also got to witness his first ride on his freshly built, 40hp Royal Enfield Himalayan sporting a noticeably louder thump than your standard Himi. A very cool build and I can't wait to hear his impressions on the new power. We had a great day riding new motorcycles, meeting new people and chatting. It's always awesome to meet other enthusiast in our awesome Royal Enfield community. Be sure to check Andy out on YouTube, he's got some cool Royal Enfield content.
